Meet Michelle

CANDIDATE FOR COVENTRY NORTH EAST

Michelle studied History & Politics (in those days known as International & Political Studies) at Coventry University. She lived in Holbrooks and Upper Stoke during her student days. After graduating, Michelle worked as a Marketing Communications specialist for a variety of not-for-profit organisations. She is currently married with two children.

As a mother, Michelle understands the importance of the NHS, and how we need it all all times of the day or night when the children are sick. She said: 'Many a Friday night I have been truly grateful to speak to medical professional at NHS Direct/NHS 111; and I think that a lot of people will be delighted with the new Conservative Party policy of having access to GPs 8 until 8, seven days a week."

Michelle's grandmother suffered with Dementia for the last ten years of her life which also put a massive strain on her mother who was her main carer. Longer access to GPs will be helpful for older people and Dementia suffers as well as all the Dementia Friendly initiatives this government is putting in place.

Internet safety is another issue that concerns Michelle with her oldest child coming up to 10. As Deputy Leader and Cabinet member for Housing and Community Safety of a  District Council, Michelle has placed e-safety much higher up the agenda with more advice for parents to help keep their children safe.

"I also worry about the economy and making sure there are enough quality jobs for people," she added. "That is why we must make sure everyone has an outstanding education, and we keep creating more apprenticeships. We must keep paying off the deficit and creating a business friendly environment that creates more and more jobs for us all.

"I think this government has achieved an enormous amount when we consider what a state the Labour Party left the country in. I look forward to hopefully being elected as your MP to continue the good work of the Conservative Party in government."
