Mr Kehoe said: “The £250m road scheme on the M42 will bring significant benefits to passengers flying to and from Birmingham Airport, and the thousands of people employed on site. Together with our own £200 million investment programme and runway extension for longer haul flights, this is connecting our region to markets and destinations around the world.

“Alongside investments in road, as well as traditional and high speed rail, we are ensuring that Birmingham Airport plays its role connecting our region to global opportunities, as part of a network of long-haul airports across the country.”

The government is investing over £15 billion in England’s roads including over 100 new road schemes over this parliament and the next.
